Former NCAA DI head coach and TCU assistant will be lead color analyst starting this fall
FORT WORTH – Justin Fuente, a former TCU assistant and head coach at Memphis and Virginia Tech, will join the Horned Frog Sports Network for football games starting this fall.
Fuente will be the lead color analyst for all TCU football games joining Brian Estridge (play-by-play) and Elvis Gallegos (sideline analyst).
"TCU has always been a special place for me and my family," Fuente said. "I am excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the game that I love while partnering with this outstanding broadcast family."
Following his playing career at Oklahoma and Murray State, Fuente spent 21 years coaching at the collegiate level. He served as TCU's running backs coach in 2007-08 before being promoted to co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, a position he held from 2009-11. Under his guidance, Fuente helped develop Andy Dalton at quarterback and lead the Horned Frogs to an undefeated season and victory in the 2011 Rose Bowl.
"We welcome Justin to our broadcast crew," said TCU head coach Sonny Dykes. "His experience as a player and coach will serve him well as a radio analyst. I'm excited for our fans and look forward to having Justin around our program."
He went on to become the head coach at Memphis for four seasons (2012-15), which included a 10-3 year in 2014 on the way to an American Athletic Conference title. That season, Fuente was named AAC Coach of the Year.
Fuente was the head coach at Virginia Tech for six seasons (2016-21). He went 10-4 in his first season with the Hokies and was named the 2016 ACC Coach of the Year.
Over the past two years, Fuente has been the color analyst for Bowl Season Radio and was a member of the broadcast teams for the Independence Bowl, First Responder Bowl and the Texas Bowl as well as the East West Shrine Game.
"Justin Fuente is going to be a great addition to our broadcast team," Estridge said. "I am excited about the perspective and insight that he will bring every week. He has an innate ability to teach and explain while still giving you that 'inside the huddle' feel. Coach Dykes and his team are going to be fun to watch on the field, now it's our job to bring that same energy on the radio. I can't wait for Sept 1!"
TCU opens the season at North Carolina on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. on ABC.
