Running back honored as one of the best offensive players from the state of Texas
TYLER, Texas – TCU running back Jeremy Payne has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football at and graduated from a Texas High School and/or currently playing at Texas D1 four-year college.
Payne enters the 2026 season looking to build off his breakout sophomore campaign in 2025. The Missouri City, Texas, native totaled 623 yards on the ground with five scores and ripped off six explosive runs (15+ yards) during the season, the most on the team.
During the Alamo Bowl on third-and-20 with the game on the line in overtime, he caught a dump-off pass from Ken Seals and took it 35 yards to the end zone to win TCU the game against No. 16 USC.
