Brunson and Bell homer for TCU
The Rundown
After falling into a 2-0 hole in the first, the Horned Frogs responded with a five spot in the second to take a lead it would never relinquish. An error followed by two walks had the bases loaded. Anthony Silva tied the game with a base knock. Sawyer Strosnider's two-run triple followed, giving the Frogs a 4-2 lead. The third error of the inning for Air Force gifted the Frogs a fifth run.
The teams traded three spots in the third and fourth as Air Force stayed in striking distance, down 8-5. Jack Bell led off the third with a home run to center. Two walks scored on a two-out double from Sam Myers. The Falcons got the three runs back on a dropped fly ball in center with the bases loaded.
Five walks, a hit batter and another error over the final two TCU at-bats led to nine more runs. A two out bases loaded error saw two Frogs score. Chase Brunson compounded the error with a three-run blast for a 13-5 lead after five. Isaac Cadena drove in two and Karson Bowen hit a sacrifice fly as part of a four-run sixth.
Louis Rodriguez started for the Frogs, allowing five runs (one earned) on three hits, walked two and struck out four in 3 2/3 innings. Carson Cormier (1-0) earned his first career win with 1 1/3 scoreless. He fanned three around a one-out walk in the fifth. Nate Stern pitched the final two innings. He struck out a career-high five while working around three walks and a hit.
