Strosnider homers twice and drives in five
HOUSTON – TCU's pitching trio of Caedmon Parker, Kade Eudy and Jax Traeger combined to blank Houston as the Horned Frogs evened the Big 12 series with a 12-0 win on Saturday night at Schroeder Park. Offensively, Sawyer Strosnider homered twice and drove in five as part of a four-hit night.
The Rundown
Making his first start since March 7, Caedmon Parker (2-0) held Houston to just two hits, walked two and struck out three over five scoreless. Kade Eudy contributed three scoreless, walking three and striking out two. Jax Traeger struck out the final three batters of the game after allowing a base hit and a walk to start the ninth. Only one Cougar base runner advanced to third in the game.
TCU got the scoring started early. Sawyer Strosnider doubled with one out and raced home on an errant pick-off throw to second to give the Frogs a 1-0 lead in the first.
The Horned Frogs tacked on three more runs in the second. Karson Bowen singled to drive in Anthony Silva and Strosnider launched a two-run homer to left for a 4-0 lead.
After being held in check for four innings, TCU exploded for eight runs over its final three at-bats. Strosnider scored his third run of the night on a wild pitch in the seventh. Noah Franco's two-out, bases loaded single pushed the lead to 7-0 in the eight.
A five-run ninth inning was highlighted by Strosnider's second home run of the game. Bowen was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in the first run of the frame. After Sam Myers hit a sacrifice fly, Strosnider capped the scoring with a three-run blast.
