
TCU Drops 7-6 Decision At Texas Tech

Brunson and Franco homer for TCU
LUBBOCK, Texas – TCU saw its rally fall one run short as it dropped a 7-6 decision to Texas Tech Saturday afternoon at Rip Griffin Park. The Horned Frogs rallied back from a 5-0 early deficit, but two late runs by the Red Raiders proved to be the difference.
The Rundown
Texas Tech opened up a 5-0 lead in the second on the strength of a three-out home run and a two-out double. Three walks were key contributors in the big inning.
The Horned Frogs battled back to tie the game at five. Noah Franco's three-run home run in the third made it a 5-3 ballgame. In the fifth, Anthony Silva singled sharply off the foot of the pitcher, allowing the tying runs to score with two outs.
The tie game did not last long as the Red Raiders led off the sixth with a solo home run to regain the lead, 6-5. Two doubles in the sixth produced another run for the Red Raiders.
TCU brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but a double play ball erased the lead-off base runner. Chase Brunson's two out home run brought the Frogs within one, 7-6, but that's as close as they would get.
Noah Franco started and allowed four runs on two hits in an inning of work in the no-decision. Cohen Feser tossed 2 2/3 innings, surrendering a run on three hits. Nate Stern (1-1) took the loss after giving up a run in 1/3 of an inning. Braeden Sloan finished the game for the Frogs, giving up a run on two hits. He struck out four in four innings.
