Horned Frogs open outdoor season at home
FORT WORTH – TCU track and field opens its outdoor season at the Lowden Track and Field Complex on March 21-22, hosting the annual TCU Alumni Invitational.
The Horned Frogs wrapped up a successful indoor season last weekend in Virginia Beach at the NCAA Indoor Championships with freshman Indya Mayberry winning the 200m national title with a world-leading 22.30 mark. Kashie Crockett competed for the men earning his first career indoor All-American honors with second team recognition in the 200m.
For the women, it marked one of their best indoor seasons in school history, finishing fifth at the Big 12 Championships. Along the way, they posted 13 top 10 times in the conference and saw five event groups ranked in the top 25 nationally.
As the team transitions into the outdoor portion of their season, the Frogs' javelin throwers will make their debut at the TCU Alumni Invitational. All-Americans Irene Jepkemboi and Maria Bienvenu look to start working their way back to Eugene for the second straight year. Senior Sydney Juszczyk is also back for her senior season along with incoming freshman and 2024 USATF U20 National Championship Preston Kuznof for the men.
Additionally, the start of the outdoor season means the 4x100 teams will be back in action this weekend. Last year, women's team finished 11th in the country at NCAAs. With the addition of Mayberry to the squad, the Frogs have their sights set competing for a championship.
Friday's action will consist of discus and hammer throws at AP Ranch. Fans can come out and support the Frogs at home on Saturday, March 22. The meet is scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m. Tickets will be available to purchase both dates at the gate.
