Trio of Frogs register multi-hit games
The Rundown
Southern Miss jumped out to an early 3-0 lead through two innings and never looked back. A two-out wild pitch in the first allowed the game's first run to score. A lead-off home run and a hit batter in the second led to two more runs. The lead grew to 4-0 as a pair of errors gifted the Golden Eagles a run in the fifth.
TCU made a game of it in the fifth, pulling within one, 4-3. Back-to-back singles from Nolan Traeger and Chase Brunson to open the inning had the Frogs in business. A one out base knock by Anthony Silva loaded the bases. Sawyer Strosnider grounded out to drive in a run. Sam Myers followed with a two-run double. The go-ahead run reached scoring position after a double-steal, but the runners were stranded.
The Golden Eagles put the game out of reach with a five spot in the eighth that was added by a trio of doubles. Two more runs scored on a two out home run in the ninth to account for the final score.
Trever Baumler (1-2) took the loss after allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits over four innings. He hit four batters and struck out one. Cohen Feser turned in three scoreless relief innings, striking out three and walking one.
