Horned Frogs shoot a school record 34-under 830 to win by nine strokes
HUMBLE, Texas – TCU punctuated one of the greatest 54-hole showings in program history on Tuesday, winning the Chevron Collegiate at Golf Club of Houston.
The Horned Frogs finished 34-under (283-274-273 = 830) to claim the championship by a nine-stroke margin.
TCU, tabbed 16th in the latest Scoreboard rankings, began the day four shots back of No. 17 Texas A&M. The Frogs shot an eight-under 136 on the front nine to overtake the Aggies. TCU then rattled off 13 combined birdies across the first five holes on the back nine – including 10 on holes 10-13 – on its way to a final round score of 15-under 273.
Camille Min-Gaultier turned in a seven-under 65 in the final round to place as the outright runner up at 13-under (203). Sofia Barroso Sá tied for third (-10, 206). Both players turned in sub-70 scorecards in all three rounds. Meagan Winans gave TCU three players under par and in the top 15, as the senior shot a six-under 210 to tie for 12th.
All three Frogs notched collegiate low-54 hole records.
Min-Gaultier, from La Londe-les-Maures, France, recorded the best low-54 hole total by a freshman in program history. She came one stroke shy of matching TCU's all-time record for low tournament score vs. par.
TCU broke its school records for low tournament total and low-54 hole score vs. par with its showing in Space City.
The Horned Frogs earned their 55th all-time tournament championship and 21st under head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin.
The 2024-25 squad is also the first in the Ravaioli-Larkin era to win three team titles in the same season. They are the first team in 35 years to win multiple championships in a season and one of only four in program history to achieve the feat alongside the 1982, 1983 and 1989 contingents.
The result likely has TCU knocking on the door of the top 10 of the Scoreboard rankings. The Frogs beat No. 1 Arkansas, who finished third at 25-under (84) and 12th-ranked Mississippi State (-19, 845) in their championship run.
TCU has rattled off six straight top five team finishes and is now the only Big 12 team with three team titles to its name following Tuesday's result.
The Horned Frogs were 29-under over rounds two and three. TCU led the field with 58 birdies and topped the charts in par-3 scoring (2.85, -9). Collectively, the Frogs were bogey-free in 90 percent of their holes (242-270). Only the Razorbacks had fewer bogeys (26).
Min-Gaultier birdied eight of her first 15 holes and briefly assumed a one-stroke lead over eventual tournament winner Vanessa Borvilos of Texas A&M. She scored par-or-better on all-but-two holes for the tournament and committed the second-fewest bogeys of any player.
One of four underclassmen on the Frogs' roster, Min-Gaultier achieved her second runner-up finish and is now enjoying a run of five straight top-20s. She has shot even or under par in nine of her last 12 rounds dating back to her second place showing at the Jim West Challenge in October.
Barroso Sá has proven to be the most consistent player on TCU's roster. Four back nine birdies lifted the junior into the top three of the individual leaderboard and sent Barroso Sá to her team-leading sixth top-20 of the 2024-25 campaign. Barroso Sá tied for the tournament high in birdies (16).
Winans carded a one-under 71 in her final stroll across the course. The sole senior on TCU's roster, Winans has finished under par in consecutive tournaments for the first time in her career. She placed a solo sixth in TCU's runner-up finish at the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club on Feb. 1 at two-under 214.
Gracie McGovern and Kirstin Angosta rounded out TCU's five player lineup, respectively tying for 50th and 61st. McGovern finished three-over (219) while Angosta was plus-six. Angosta proved invaluable in TCU's charge to first place. She shot a four-under 68 in the final round and collected a team-best five birdies over the Frogs' first 12 holes.
Sofie Dimitrova competed as an individual and tied for 64th (+7, 223).
