Lui Maxted went 2-0 on the day
FORT WORTH – No. 2 TCU rolled 21st-ranked Pepperdine, 4-0, in its first outdoor match of 2025 on Sunday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The newly-minted No. 69 ITA doubles pair of Jack Pinnington and Cooper Woestendick earned their second ranked win in 2025 to pace TCU to the doubles point. TCU swept courts one, three and six in singles in a match that was contested as clinch-clinch. Freshman Roger Pascual played his first match in a month and earned a double bagel on court six, defeating David Fix, 6-0, 6-0, to highlight the afternoon. TCU was up a set on courts four and five when play was paused.
"Playing a team like Pepperdine is always tough," said head coach David Roditi. "They are well-coached and they fight. We had been freaking out about playing them outdoors just five days after playing finals of the ITA Indoor National Championships. We are as proud of their toughness and resilience today as we have been. Nobody on our team complained about practice in 30-degree weather a few days ago. They just knew they had to tough it out. Very proud of them.
"The performance of the day was little giant freshman Roger Pascual," Roditi continued, "who has been waiting for an opportunity to get in the lineup and when he got the chance today, he made the most of it with a 6-0 6-0 win over what I feel is one of Pepperdine's strongest positions. It was fun to watch him compete and perform like that. Now we host South Florida March 3 at noon. Please come out and watch us play. Go Frogs!"
