
TCU Drops Tight Contest To Arkansas

Franco tallies two hits in the contest
ARLINGTON, Texas – A two-run, pinch-hit double in the seventh for No. 4 Arkansas was the difference in a 2-1 loss for No. 13 TCU Saturday night at Globe Life Field in Arlington. Noah Franco led the Horned Frogs with two hits.
The Rundown
Tommy LaPour (1-1) was outstanding through six innings, holding Arkansas to just two base runners. He finished the night allowing two runs on two hits, walking two and striking out five.
It was a lead-off walk in the seventh broke a string of 11 straight batters retired for LaPour. A second walk followed putting the go-ahead runs on. With one out, pinch hitter Kuhio Aloy doubled on the first pitch he saw, giving Arkansas a 2-1 lead.
TCU had its chances to get the game tied. A lead-off walk in the seventh was caught stealing. The Razorbacks turned double plays in the eighth and ninth to squelch rallies. The Frogs still did not go quietly, getting the winning run to second base with two outs. Sam Myers and Karson Bowen walked with two outs, but a strikeout ended the game with the winning run on second.
The Horned Frogs opened the scoring in the fourth. Chase Brunson worked a lead-off walk. With the bases loaded and one out, Sam Myers hit a grounder to second that was misplayed. On the error, Brunson scored for a 1-0 lead, but TCU would leave them loaded.
On the mound, Gianluca Shinn retired the only batter he faced. Louis Rodriguez struck out one and allowed a hit in 2/3 of an inning. Mason Bixby tossed two scoreless to close out the game.
