COLLEGE STATION – Making its fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, No. 20 TCU opens up First Round action against SFA on Friday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m. CT in Reed Arena.
TCU NOTABLES
• In each of the past three seasons under head coach Jason Williams, TCU has advanced to the Second Round of the Big Dance, one of 18 teams to do so.
• The Horned Frogs recorded 20 wins for the second consecutive year, marking their first back-to-back 20-win seasons since 2008-09.
• Sophomores Evan Hendrix and Becca Kelley earned All-Big 12 honors. Hendrix was a unanimous First Team selection, while Kelley received a Second Team nod.
• In conference play, sophomore Evan Hendrix led the Big 12 with 4.96 kills per set. Her 498 kills this year are the fifth most ever by a TCU player in a single season in school history.
• Sarah Sylvester owns three of the top 10 individual blocking seasons in TCU history. The senior's 145 blocks this year rank as the sixth most by a Frog. She finished with 138 in 2023 (seventh) and 146 in 2024 (fifth).
• Ranked No. 20 heading into postseason play, TCU volleyball has been featured in 29 straight AVCA/TARAFLEX Coaches Polls dating back to last season.
• In a battle of purples, TCU holds a 4-3 lead over SFA in the all-time series.
SCOUTING SFA
After winning the Southland Conference Tournament, SFA secured an automatic bid for the 2025 NCAA Volleyball Tournament. It marks the Ladyjacks' eighth overall appearance in the Big Dance and first since 2023. SFA only has one Tournament victory with a 1-8 record in postseason play. Led by head coach Debbie Humphreys in her 38th season, SFA posted a 23-7 overall record, including a 15-1 mark in conference play. The Ladyjacks were 0-2 against Power 4 competition, falling to Indiana (0-3) and No. 10 SMU (0-3). Winners of 11 straight, they come into the tournament fresh off the Southland regular season and Tournament Titles. Sophomore Katherine Holtman paces the SFA offense with 308 kills (3.45 per set) at an efficient .295 hitting percentage. Defensively, Kyanna Creecy and Jordan Henderson each have over 100.0 blocks on the year, and libero Caroline Kahale leads the team with 422 digs.
GOING DANCING
• TCU punched its ticket to the NCAA Volleyball Tournament, earning an at-large bid to the College Station Regional.
• As the No. 6 seed in the upper left quadrant, TCU will face SFA on Friday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m. CT.
• It marks the fourth consecutive appearance and seventh overall in the NCAA Tournament for the Horned Frogs.
• In the past three seasons, head coach Jason Williams has guided TCU to First Round wins over Washington (3-1, 2022), No. 22 Florida State (3-1, 2023) and Hawaii (3-0, 2024).
• Further, the Frogs are one of 18 teams to advance to the Second Round or further of the NCAA Tournament in each of the last three seasons.
ALL-BIG 12 FROGS
• The Big 12 released its all-conference awards, with TCU's Evan Hendrix and Becca Kelley each earning honors as voted on by the league's head coaches.
• After leading the Big 12 with 4.96 kills per set in conference play, Hendrix was a unanimous First Team selection.
• Over the course of the year, the Scottsdale, Arizona, native racked up 498 kills, the 16th most nationally and fifth most in a single season in TCU history.
• She paced the Frogs' offense with 541.0 points, besting a sophomore record set by Kourtney Edwards in 2007 (504.0), and earned a pair of Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honors.
• Kelley followed up her All-Big 12 Rookie season with Second Team Honors in 2025.
• The sophomore was the only Horned Frog to play all 116 sets this season, finishing with double-digit kills in 22 of 30 matches.
• She ranked second on the team with 339 kills, just a tick under 3.0 kills per set, and 382.5 total points.
• TCU has had at least two student-athletes earn All-Big 12 honors all four years under head coach Jason Williams.
BACK-2(0)-BACK
• With a victory over Houston, TCU secured 20 regular-season wins for the second consecutive season.
• It marked the Horned Frogs' first back-to-back 20-win seasons since 2008-09.
• In TCU's 30 seasons of volleyball, the Frogs have only won 20 matches eight times.
BATTLE TESTED
• Playing in one of the toughest conferences in the country, the Big 12 boasts the No. 1 Conference RPI and sent 10 schools to the 2025 NCAA Tournament, the most of any conference. Further, the 10 selections for the NCAA Tournament are the most in Big 12 history, surpassing the previous high of eight in 2001.
• This season, the Horned Frogs played the No. 26 ranked toughest schedule in the nation.
• Of their 30 matches played, half (15) have been against ranked opponents.
• TCU managed to win a program record six matches against top-25 opponents.
• This season, the Frogs also played 18 matches against teams that made the NCAA Tournament, including five of the top 16 teams in the field.
