Senior earns prestigious national award
INDIANAPOLIS – Seven Castain, one of the most highly-decorated student-athletes in TCU women's soccer history, has earned the NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete award, the organization announced Wednesday.
ABOUT THE AWARD
The NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete award honors the exceptional achievements of student-athletes. This prestigious accolade is given to those who have not only excelled at a national championship level in their sport but have also achieved the highest academic standards among their peers. The Elite Scholar-Athlete is proudly awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.
Castain has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her four years in Fort Worth as a writing and rhetoric major at TCU. She is the first TCU women's soccer player in school history to bring home the distinguished honor.
The Draper, Utah, native is currently tied for the single-season school record mark for goals with 17. Her 38 points ranks second in program history for a single season as well. The senior has pulled together six multi-goal matches this season, including two hat tricks. Castain has put five goals in the back of the net so far this NCAA Tournament, scoring those goals in the first two matches against Grambling State and Memphis.
Catch Castain and the rest of the TCU women's soccer team on Friday as they are set to take part in the program's first-ever College Cup appearance, playing the third-seeded Florida State Seminoles at 5 p.m. at CPKC Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
