TCU was the only school in Texas to sign all Texas high schoolers.
FORT WORTH – On what proved to be a drama-free morning, TCU's years of relationship-building and recruitment efforts paid off with the first wave of signees for the class of 2026 – a 22-man group consisting of 19 high schoolers, one junior college tight end, and an offensive lineman from the transfer portal.
The Frogs inked four four-star prospects, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, and were the only FBS school in the state of Texas to bring in all of its high school signees from Texas high schools. That distinction was not lost on head coach Sonny Dykes.
"Texas is going to be our base when it comes to recruiting," Dykes said. "I think we all agree that Texas has the best high school football, Texas has the best investment in high school football players from the coaching standpoint, from the facilities, from the resources. We just believe in the Texas high school coaches and the job they do developing these players and teaching them great culture. So many of these kids come from winning programs that a number of these guys are still in state playoffs."
Seventeen of TCU's 20 high school signees come from playoff-participant programs, and 18 of them were also multi-sport athletes. Out of the portal, TCU added Oklahoma State-transfer lineman Noah McKinney who entered prior to rule changes dictating the transfer portal window runs from January 2-16 – a period in which TCU expects to be actively involved.
In total, TCU signed 13 players set for the offensive side of the ball, eight on defense, and one specialist. Of particular highlight for Dykes was the size and length of the lineman – both offensive and defensive – that the program will look to grow into the deepest part of the program for years to come.
"The lines are where your programs are built. Particularly in the way you have to build them in today's world," Dykes added. "Those guys are a premium. There's just not that many big people who can do what those guys can do, so we like to sign a big group of those guys to bring them here and develop them. We're excited about the young linemen we've signed on both sides of the ball in the last three recruiting classes. We think that's going to be the strength of our team moving forward because they've come in here and gotten bigger and stronger."
The 2025 version of the Frogs (8-4) is currently awaiting Selection Sunday where TCU will find out its postseason destination. For the 2026 squad, 17 of Wednesday's 22 signees are expected to be on campus when the spring semester begins in January.
