Two TCU pairs set sights on National Title
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Two pairs on behalf of the defending National Champion TCU beach volleyball team are set to compete at the AVCA Pairs National Championships beginning on Friday and running through Sunday at John Hunt Sand Volleyball Courts in Huntsville.
The tournament consists of 64 seeded pairs, and the awarded bids from the pairs event are based on performance from the previous spring season. TCU's two bids are the maximum a team can receive.
Natalie Glenn and Anhelina Khmil enter the 64-pair tournament as the No. 7 overall seed, while Sofia Izuzquiza and Stacy Reeves have the No. 15 seed.
Glenn and Khmil begin their journey on Friday at 10:30 a.m. and will face the 58th-seeded pair from Santa Clara. Also at 10:30 a.m., Izuzquiza and Reeves will begin against the No. 50 seed from Boise State.
Since the Pairs National Championships have been established in 2022, the Frogs have experienced a great deal of success.
In its inaugural season, Ana Vergara and Sutton MacTavish took silver in the tournament. The highlight was in 2023, when Khmil and Hailey Hamlett took gold and were crowned National Champions. Last year, Daniela Alvarez and Tania Moreno became the third consecutive TCU pair to medal at the event, taking second.
TCU is looking to continue the positive momentum from its incredible 2025 season, which saw the Horned Frogs win the program's first ever National Championship. In addition, the Frogs claimed the inaugural Big 12 Championship, marking the third consecutive conference crown for the program.
The 2025 season was a culmination of sustained success over multiple seasons. Dating back to 2020, TCU is the second-winningest program in collegiate beach volleyball with 174 total wins. This decade, the Horned Frogs are averaging almost 33 wins per season (excluding the COVID-shortened season in 2020).
