Freshman continues her breakout season
FORT WORTH – After setting a pair of new top-10 times in program history, Avery Dillon of the TCU swimming and diving team was tabbed the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Thursday.
The freshman earned two first-place finishes this past week in a double dual against SMU and Arizona in Dallas in the 500 free and 1650 free. The Fulshear, Texas, native secured the third-fastest time in the 1650 free (16:35.14) on Thursday then turned around and posted the sixth-best mark in the 500 free (4:50.09) on Friday.
Dillon also competed in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 200 free during the two-day event.
This is Dillon's first weekly honor of her career. She also broke the school record in the 1000 free (9:55.56) against Texas A&M earlier this month.
The TCU swimming and diving will next be back in action from Nov. 14-16 for the Texas Diving Invitational in Austin and then Nov. 20-22 for the Mizzou Invite in Columbia, Missouri.
