FORT WORTH – No. 16 TCU volleyball gears up for two more ranked matchups on the road, traveling to No. 22 Colorado on Nov. 13 and No. 25 Iowa State on Nov. 15.
TCU TIDBITS
• The Horned Frogs have won a program record six contests against top-25 teams this season. Of their 25 matches played, nearly half (48 percent) have been against ranked opponents.
• Against Utah, senior Ella Foti recorded just the ninth triple-double in TCU history and the only one in the Big 12 this season. She finished with 10 kills (.450 hitting), added 31 assists and 17 digs.
• In Big 12 play, sophomore Evan Hendrix leads the conference with 4.96 kills per set and ranks third with 5.28 points per set.
• Sophomore Becca Kelley tallied her 500th career kill last week. She is 10 kills shy of 300 on the season.
• Sarah Sylvester recorded her third consecutive 100+ block season. Over the weekend, the senior moved into second all-time at TCU with 449.0 career blocks.
• With five matches remaining, the Frogs (18-7) are aiming for their fourth back-to-back 20-win season in program history.
• TCU volleyball has its sights set on hosting postseason play in Fort Worth for the first time in school history. The Frogs were ranked No. 9 by the NCAA Selection Committee's in-season rankings on Oct. 19.
SERIES HISTORY
• Thursday's match will mark just the second meeting all-time between TCU and Colorado.
• Last year, the Frogs swept the Buffs in Fort Worth.
• Iowa State holds an 18-5 advantage in the all-time series with TCU, including a 9-2 mark in Ames. The Frogs last win on the road in the series came back in 2018.
• Last season, TCU fended off a late comeback attempt by the Cyclones, avoiding the reverse sweep in five sets in Fort Worth.
BIG 12'S BEST KEPT SECRET
• While she's played setter for the Frogs all season, senior Ella Foti went back to her roots this week, lining up as a right side hitter in both of TCU's wins over Utah and West Virginia.
• Foti played all six rotations at two positions (S/RS), averaging 2.00 kills per set, 7.43 assists per set and 3.43 digs per set.
• While running the offense, she helped the Frogs hit over .300 in both matches (.347 on the week). Foti was also extremely efficient herself, hitting at a .429 clip with 14 kills on just 28 swings.
• Against Utah (11/7), Foti recorded the ninth triple-double in TCU volleyball history, finishing with 10 kills, 31 assists and 17 digs.
• Foti is the only player in the Big 12 to record a triple-double this season.
BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN
• After dropping four consecutive matches to close out the month of October, TCU got back to its winning ways against Utah and West Virginia.
• The Frogs picked up a pair of wins in their home court, but more importantly, got back to playing "TCU Volleyball."
• In both victories, the Frogs hit over .300 as a team and averaged 19.57 points per set, finding plenty of ways to score.
SPEED KILLS
• Head coach Jason Williams contributes a lot of TCU's offensive success to the Frogs' speed. He calls their up-tempo offense "Frog Fast."
• Speed clearly kills as TCU runs one of the top offenses in the Big 12, leading the league with 13.06 assists per set and 13.94 kills per set in conference play.
• Hendrix plays a large role in that success, pacing the Big 12 with 4.96 kills per set herself.
• And of course it all starts with a great pass — an area where the Frogs excel. TCU's 16.13 digs per set are the most of any team in the conference.
