Frogs to send eight shooters to match
FORT WORTH – The No. 3-ranked TCU women's rifle team returns to action Sunday morning at UTEP. The first relay is slated to get underway at 8:45 a.m. (CT).
Heading to El Paso to compete for the Horned Frogs will be Marissa Fedora, Christina Hillinger, Mikole Hogan, Mackenzie Kring, Rylie Passmore, Alexandra Rosenlew, Ziva Swick and Katie Zaun.
Through two matches this season, the Frogs have had solid showings in both disciplines. The Frogs are sixth nationally with a season aggregate average of 4,730. TCU is fourth nationally in air rifle average (2,384) and sixth in smallbore (2,346).
Fedora and Passmore have had a strong start to their sophomore campaigns. Both shooters have matched or set career-highs in both disciplines and aggregate score. Fedora is one of nine shooters nationally to be averaging a 590 or better in smallbore this season. She also boasts a 595.5 season average in air rifle. Passmore is averaging a 584.5 in smallbore and a 596.5 in air rifle.
Zaun is coming off a first place finish at Georgia Southern. She eclipsed the 590 plateau in smallbore for the 23rd time in her career, shooting a 593. On the season, she has a 589 smallbore average and a 596.5 air rifle average.
Hogan has served as a counter in both disciplines in each match this season and is averaging a 576 in smallbore and a 593.5 in air rifle. Kring has served as a counter in air rifle in both matches and is averaging a 596.5 in the discipline. Hillinger is averaging a 581 in smallbore and a 591.5 in air rifle this season.
Rosenlew made her collegiate smallbore debut in the last match and fired a 590. In air rifle, she has a season average of 594.
Swick will be making her season debut on Sunday.
UTEP has fired two matches this season. As a team, the Miners are averaging 2,311.5 in smallbore and a 2,367 in air rifle for an aggregate average of 4,678.5. Carlee Valenta leads the squad in both disciplines, averaging a 580.5 in smallbore and a 598.5 in air rifle.
