
Dillon Sets School Record, Frogs Conclude Meet Against Texas A&M

Freshman notches record-breaking effort in distance event
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Freshman Avery Dillon broke a program-best mark as the TCU swimming and diving team wrapped up competition against Texas A&M on Friday afternoon at the Rec Center Natatorium.
Dillon's record-breaking performance came in the 1000 free, where she would swim a 9:55.56 to become the fastest women's swimmer in the event in school history. She would also come just shy of another top-10 mark in the 500 free as she secured the victory in that event as well, posting a time of 4:52.63.
Overall on the day, the men's team fell to the Aggies, 198-98, while the women's side fell short of Texas A&M, 221-74.
The day's events got started in the 200 yard medley relay, where the women's squad finished third overall with a time of 1:41.51 and the men's side came in second after touching the wall in 1:26.68
Aarom Wilmes (9:11.91) and Deacon Gutshall (9:18.02) would come in second and third in the 1000 free. Newcomer Paige Taber would find herself slotted third in the 100 back, swimming a 54-second race.
Edgar Cicanci was back to his winning ways, this time grabbing the victory in the 100 back (47.22). Filip Suchanski would come in shirt, posting a 48.50 effort. Morgan Gore (2:03.76) and Viktor Hristov (1:47.55) would each notch third-place finishes in the 200 fly.
Freshman Molly Cullen would finish third in the 50 free (23.29) while Peter Horton would land in second after swimming a 20.16. In diving, Emma Larcada Herrera was the Horned Frog's top finisher on 1-meter, placing third with a total score of 265.58. She would also come in third on 3-meter with a 275.93. David Ekdahl would secure a pair of third-place results as well on 1-meter (328.80) and 3-meter (296.03) while Oliver Cazaly would come in second on 3-meter (330.75).
In the 200 back, Suchanski swam a 1:43.52 to come in first in the event. Cicanci also had a 1:44.19 effort to give the Frogs two finishers inside the top three. Freshman Deacon Gutshall threw down a 4:29.57 in the 500 free to land a second-place finish for TCU.
Rounding out the day, the Frogs had two second-place results in the 200 free relay. The women's squad of Hannah Wachendorfer, Dillon, Lexi Drap and Taylor Steelman swam a 1:36.38 while the quartet of Horton, Hristov, Nigel Forbes and Colin Clough posted a time of 1:20.59.
