Allette leads TCU with 15 points
ORLANDO, Fla. – A tough shooting day resulted in TCU's 85-58 loss at UCF Saturday at Addition Financial Arena.
The Knights (13-6, 4-4) got out to a 13-0 lead in the games' first two minutes and 22 seconds behind three 3-pointers by Keyshawn Hall. That sequence set the tone for the rest of the game as the Horned Frogs (10-9, 3-5) were never able to get out of a deficit.
Vasean Allette led TCU with 15 points. His two free throws in the first half brought the Frogs to within six points, 25-19. with 8:27 to play in the period. UCF closed the half on a 13-4 run to lead 37-23 at halftime.
TCU never got within single digits in the second half despite outrebounding UCF, 39-38. The difference came from beyond-the-arc, where the Knights shot 73.3 percent (13-of-31) from 3-point range and the Frogs were 5.0% (1-of-20).
Hall ended with a game-high 26 points and eight rebounds.
TCU will next play at Texas Tech on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.
TEAM NOTES
- TCU fell to 1-2 all-time against UCF.
- TCU moved to 1-4 on the road this season.
- Dixon's career record moved to 498-242 as a head coach.
- TCU outrebounded UCF, 39-38. It was the Frogs' first loss this season when outrebounding their opponent, now 6-1.
- UCF's 13 made 3-pointers was the most by a TCU opponent since Texas Tech made 14 last season in Fort Worth.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Vasean Allette scored in double-figures for the 10th-straight game with 15.
- Allette led the Frogs in assists for the sixth-straight game with four.
- Noah Reynolds scored two points. His double-digit scoring streak ended at eight games.
- Trazarien White was 0-of-6 from 3-point range. His 3-point streak ended at 12 games.
- Isaiah Manning scored seven points. It was the most he's scored since the season-opener against Florida A&M when he had 10.
- Manning had the Frogs' only 3-pointer, which came with 15:30 to play.
