
Winans Maintains Top-10 Position at Carmel Cup

Horned Frogs occupy sixth place ahead of Sunday's final round
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – TCU is in firm position to finish in the top two-thirds of the Carmel Cup leaderboard with 18 holes to go.
The Horned Frogs stand in sixth place at plus-38 after shooting an 18-over 378 in Saturday's second round at Pebble Beach Golf Link's
TCU collected a combined 16 birdies and lowered its countable score by two strokes from round one.
Meagan Winans will be among the final players to toe the first tee box at the unanimous No. 1 rated public course in the United States. TCU's lone senior, Winans is tied for ninth at one-over (145) after finishing plus-four in round two.
Winans rattled in birdies on three of her first seven holes. The Plano, Texas native found herself tied for second and just two strokes back of tournament leader Julia Lopez Romero of Mississippi State (-8, 136). She was plus-six over her final 10 holes. Winans' Saturday score was the sixth-lowest of any competitor in the 48-player field.
Gracie McGovern turned in TCU's top score of its second morning on the Monterrey Peninsula. One of two freshman on the Horned Frogs' roster, McGovern finished one-over (73) via three birdies over her first 10 holes. The effort vaulted her into a tie for 27th.
Fellow newcomer Camille Min-Gaultier kept pace, carding a second round score of 75 (+3) to force a tie for 24th at eight-over (152) with 18 holes to go. She played even-par golf on the back nine.
Tied with McGovern-in 27th on the leaderboard is Sofia Barroso Sá. The leading Horned Frog letterwinner, Barroso Sá tallied a team-high four birdies in round two. She finished plus-five (77).
Sofie Dimitrova matched Barroso Sá's effort and is now 14-over for the tournament.
Kirstin Angosta finished eight-over on Saturday. Her score did not factor into TCU's countable tally. Angosta and Dimitrova are tied for 38th at 14-over.
TCU leads Texas Tech (+58) and Oklahoma (+68) and trails Oklahoma State by six strokes for fifth place.
Sunday's final round commences at 8:30 a.m.
