Shot a three-under 69 in opening round at Pebble Beach
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Meagan Winans brought the Texas heat to the California coastline.
To commence the 2024-25 college golf season, Winans carded a three-under 69 at Pebble Beach Golf Links in the opening round of the Carmel Cup.
Winans, a Plano, Texas native, occupies sole possession of fifth place one-third of the way through the 54-hole affair.
Her efforts positioned TCU in fifth on the eight-team leaderboard ahead of Saturday's second round. The Horned Frogs turned in an opening round scorecard of plus-20 (380) in the six-count-five tournament.
TCU leads conference colleagues Oklahoma State (+21) and Texas Tech (+30) as well as former Big 12 rival Oklahoma (+37). Arkansas is the outright leader at one-over.

Commencing on the hole one, Winans rattled off birdies on three of her first five holes and found herself tied atop the leaderboard. TCU's lone senior, she bagged another birdie on eight to maintain a tie for first.
Bogies on nine and 13 briefly slowed her roll, but Winans never dipped outside of the top-five. Winans collected her fifth-and-final birdie on 18.
