TCU heads back to Waco to begin postseason competition

FORT WORTH – TCU begins championship season at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships (May 9-11) in Waco, Texas. All three days will be televised on ESPN+.

TCU made their mark at the 2024 Penn Relays.

Gray took gold at the Penn Relays in the 100m. Gray, who won with her time of 11.35, is the first back-to-back Penn Relays 100m Champion since 2014. She won the 2023 title with her time of 11.50.

Maria Bienvenu was crowned the Penn Relays Javelin Throw Champion with her winning throw of 51.00m (167-4). It was her second win this season as she also won the season-opening TCU Alumni Invitational.

The squad of Jayden Douglas, Kashie Crockett, Gianni Henry and Ryan Martin placed first with their time of 3:18.71. Martin's anchor leg propelled the Horned Frogs to a first-place finish.

Also having a stellar day on the track was the women's distance medley relay team that broke the school record with their time of 10:53.34. Rylan Engels, Dreunna Washington, Jasmin Muhammad-Graham and Gracie Morris placed fifth.

Big 12 Indoor Championships Recap
Iyana Gray was crowned the 200m Champion on the final day of the Big 12 Indoor Championships in Lubbock, Texas.

Gray shattered her school record and won with her personal-best 22.71 to earn 10 team points for the Horned Frogs. She advanced to the finals with her third-place prelim time of 23.10.

She was the first women's 200m conference champion for TCU in the Big 12 Era.

In the women's 1000m, Tabitha Kalunde Ngao earned runner-up honors with her time of 2:47.74. It was a new personal-best for Ngao and she now holds the school record in the 1000m.

The Distance Frogs also collected two third-place finishes. Lloyd Frilot (1:49.14) finished third in the 800m in his first Big 12 Indoor Championships finals race. Ryan Martin (2:23.00) also took bronze in the 1000m with his new personal-best and school-record time.

David Seete secured a top three finish in the men's 600 yard for the second consecutive season. His time of 1:08.07 earned him a bronze medal.

On the women's side, Jasmin Muhammad-Graham earned five points for the Frogs with her fourth-place finish. She clocked a time of 1:20.98 in the finals.
