Frogs Earn NCEA National Runner-Up Title

TCU falls to SMU 12-7 in championship
OCALA, Fla. – The TCU equestrian team finished runner up in the NCEA National Championship after falling to No. 2 SMU 12-7 on Saturday evening at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla.
Jessica McAllister was named the tournament Most Outstanding Performer in Horsemanship and to the NCEA All-Championship Horsemanship team. The senior finished the weekend 3-0 and the season 13-3 in the event. Sydney Berube and Laurel Smith were named to the Flat All-Championship team and Jordyn Scelsa to the Fences All-Championship team.
REINING
The championship meet began in the western arena where the Horned Frogs ultimately collected one point falling 4-1 to SMU. Sophomore, Lannie-Jo Lisac earned the first point of the day for TCU in her first 2024 NCEA tournament appearance. The Colorado native showed Boss and won the point 72.5-72.17. Lisac finished the season 2-2-1 in the event.
HORSEMANSHIP
TCU rallied in horsemanship to tie SMU 2-2 in the final western event. Shea Graham earned the first point for the Frogs with a 74.67 on Olive. McAllister showed Henry and earned a 75.17 to outscore her opponent by 1.5 points.
FLAT
The Mustangs led the Frogs 6-3 heading into the second half of the day. In the flat arena, SMU took down the TCU jumping seat unit 3-2. Berube earned the second highest score of the event with a 82.67 on Diablo. Smith entered the arena last facing an 81.33 she rode Rex and ultimately earned an 83.33 to secure the final point of the event.
FENCES
Heading into fences the team from Dallas led 9-5 only needing one point to secure the meet. The Mustangs would seal their back-to-back title winning the event 3-2. Scelsa was the first to strike in the event earning her point 77.67-76.67 on Artie. Berube earned the last point of the day for TCU with an 87.33 on Nano.
