Senior is tied for third at four-under through two rounds at The Show
LAS VEGAS – Bright light city and a school record shattered.
Lois Lau broke TCU's all-time birdies record on day one of The Show on the outskirts of the Entertainment Capital of the World.
She entered Monday needing nine birdies to increase her career tally to 358 and become TCU's school record-holder. Lau, a senior from Noisy-sur-Ecole, France, did exactly that. She carded three in the first round of the 54-hole affair at Spanish Trail Golf Club. Lau then rattled off six during the afternoon walk on her way to the top of TCU's record book. She surpassed Sabrina Iqbal (2019-22) as TCU's career birdies leader.
Lau fired a four-under 68 in the second round to propel herself into a tie for third and two strokes back of the lead ahead of Tuesday's final 18. She bagged five birdies in a seven-hole stretch to break TCU's school record. The second round tear culminated with a record-setting birdie on three in her penultimate hole of the afternoon.
Collectively, the Horned Frogs are tied for fifth in a 13-team field at nine-over 585. TCU trails No. 24 Virginia for the fourth spot on the team leaderboard by two strokes.
Both Lau and Meagan Winans were tied for 10th at even-par following the first round. Winans carded a team-leading five birdies over the first 18 holes. She is tied for 23rd at plus-four (148).
Sofia Barroso Sa finished one stroke back of Winans and is tied for 30th (+5, 149).
Sheridan Clancy rounded out the Horned Frogs lineup at six-over 150. The sophomore collected four birdies and was just a stroke over par in Monday's second round.
Kirstin Angosta sits in a tie for 42nd at seven-over.
Competing unattached, TCU freshman Sofie Dimitrova is tied with Barroso Sa at plus-five.
