
TCU Comes Up Short in Big 12 Championship

OSU defends the title with a 10-9 win
WACO, Texas – The TCU equestrian team faced off against the reigning Big 12 champions, Oklahoma State, in a thrilling showdown at the conference championship held Saturday afternoon at the Willis Equestrian Center. In a closely contested match, the Horned Frogs narrowly fell short with a final score of 10-9, with the outcome hinging on the final ride of the day.
By day's end, the Horned Frogs celebrated a sweep of the Big 12 honors. Haley Schoolfield earned recognition as Coach of the Year for the second year in a row and third time overall. On the jumping seat side Ashleigh Scully was named Fences rider of the year and Lilly Goldstein clinched the title of Flat rider of the year. The western team was represented by Mattie Dukes securing the accolade of Horsemanship rider of the year and Shea Graham was honored as Reining rider of the year, marking an impressive display of talent across all disciplines.
Following the comeback win over Baylor in the Big 12 Semifinal, Payton Boutelle was honored with the tournaments Horsemanship Most Outstanding Performer accolade. The senior ended the weekend 2-0 in the event with scores of 76 and 76.17, respectively.
REINING
The meet began in the western arena where the Horned Frogs took down the Cowgirls 3-2. Jessica McAllister earned the first point of the meet with a 70.83 on Ruf. Giorgia Medows had a solid ride on Penny to win 71.33-70.5. Graham rounded out the event earning the highest score of the day with a 71.5 on Snoop Dog.
FENCES
In the fences arena OSU swept 5-0 to take the lead 7-3 heading into the second half.
HORSEMANSHIP
The western unit didn't flinch when it was their time to enter the arena, sweeping the event 5-0. McAllister kicked things off with a 74.83 on Lola which would ultimately take down Alana Stanton's 71.83 ride. Boutelle rounded out a great show with a 76.17 on Vegas. Medows completed the weekend 3-1 at the conclusion of her ride with a 75.17-74.67 on Mister. Graham exited the arena after a 76.5-75.83 win on Tari to end the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record. Dukes was the final point of the day for the western team earning it with a 73.67 on Jake.
FLAT
The meet came down to the flat decision where TCU ultimately fell 3-1 to the Cowgirls. Scully was the lone Frog to earn a point with an 84.33 on Grande.

The Horned Frogs set their sights on the NCEA National Championship tournament April 18-20 in Ocala, Fla. at the World Equestrian Center.
