TCU places first for both men and women
Ocala, Fla. – The TCU swimming and diving team swept the National Invitational Championship titles for the first time in program history. The women's team brought home the hardware with a total of 619 points while the men earned 859.
DAY ONE
The Frogs kicked off the National Invitational Championship with an impressive showing on day one, securing a total of nine medals. Highlights include two gold, one silver, and six bronze medals, with standout performances from athletes like Geremia Freri, who set a new school record in the 200 IM.
Notable achievements also include Tania Quaglieri's bronze in the 50 backstroke and Nigel Forbes' silver in the same event. The men's 200 free relay team made a mark in the TCU top 10 with a strong third-place finish with a time of 1:19.23.
The day concluded with an electrifying performance in the 400 medley relay, where the women's team secured bronze with a time of 3:37.91, and the men's team clinched gold with an impressive time of 3:09.62.
DAY TWO
TCU continued its impressive performance at the National Invitational Championship, securing three gold, two silver, and three bronze medals on day two.
Standout achievements included gold medals for both the men's and women's 200 medley relay teams, with the men also making their mark in the TCU top 10. Piotr Sadlowski and Forbes showcased their skill with gold and bronze in the 100 fly, respectively.
The day ended with strong showings in the 800 free relay, with the men clinching bronze and the women placing in the TCU top 10.
DAY THREE
The National Invitational Championship concluded with a historic victory, securing titles on both the men's and women's sides for the first time in program history. The final day saw one bronze, two silver, and four gold medals, showcasing the team's exceptional talent and dedication.
Highlights included Jordan Edwards setting a new school record in the 1650 free, while Aaron Wilmes and Kornel Kohalmi secured spots in the TCU top 10 in the 1000 free. Freri and Quaglieri continued the success with gold and silver medals, respectively, in their events, with Freri clocking in at 47.72 in the 100 IM and Quaglieri swimming the 200 backstroke in 1:55.17.
The meet concluded with the women's team claiming gold in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:17.43, and the men placing second in the TCU top 10 with a time of 2:54.36.
