
TCU Advances with 77-70 Win over Oklahoma

The Horned Frogs will face Houston at 2 p.m. on Thursday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – No. 8 seed TCU led for nearly the entire game in its 77-70 win over No. 9 seed Oklahoma Wednesday in the second round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship at T-Mobile Center.
Emanuel Miller scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-13 shooting and added a team-best eight rebounds. It was the most points by a TCU player ever at the Big 12 Championship. The all-conference forward had 13 in the second half and hit several clutch shots as the Sooners (20-12) tried to close the gap as time dwindled down.
TCU (21-11) led by as many as 19 points in the second half until OU went on a 20-8 scoring run that cut the lead to seven, 75-68, with 1:05 to play. The Sooners made seven of their last eight shots of the game, while TCU didn't make a field goal for the final 6:46 of the contest.
The Horned Frogs came off the tip strong, hitting six of their seven field goals in the first half. TCU built a 45-31 lead at the half after a three-quarters court heave by Micah Peavy went in at the buzzer. The senior guard finished with eight points.
Jameer Nelson Jr. made all seven free throw attempts and finished with 14 points and a team-best five assists. As a team, TCU made 20-of-26 from the free throw line for 76.9 percent.
JaKobe Coles came off the bench to score 11 points for the Frogs who shot 47.2 percent from the field.
The Horned Frogs will face the top seed and No. 1 team in the country, Houston, at 2 p.m. on Thursday on ESPN. It is the third-straight season that TCU will play in the quarterfinals.

- O'Bannon earned his first start of the season. He was 2-of-4 from 3-point range. It was his fourth-straight game with a made three.
- Ernest Udeh Jr. had nine points and four rebounds. It was his most points in a game since Jan. 16 when he had 11 against Cincinnati.
