Horned Frogs begin 54-hole affair at 8 a.m. on Monday
FORT WORTH – TCU makes its first of two springtime visits to Space City on Monday to begin play at The Chevron Collegiate, hosted by Big 12 rival Houston.
The two-day, 54-hole affair takes place from Monday-Tuesday at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
TCU's lineup is comprised of Lois Lau, Sofia Barroso Sa, Kirstin Angosta, Meagan Winans and Sophie Anand. The top-four is unchanged from the Horned Frogs' most recent tournament – the Puerto Rico Classic – while Anand is making her TCU debut.
Nine programs in the 17-team field cracked the top-50 of the latest Scoreboard team rankings. The field includes four Big 12 counterparts in Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and the host Cougars.
The individual champion of the Chevron Collegiate will qualify for The Chevron Championship Pro-Am and receive an invitation to its pairings party.
TCU will play in three tournaments over the next four weeks beginning with the Chevron Collegiate. The Horned Frogs return to Houston on Apr. 18-20 for the Big 12 Championship, held at The Clubs at Houston Oakes.
Competing for TCU
Lau and Barroso Sa have separated as TCU's top-two players. They tied for 16th at one-under 215 at the Puerto Rico Classic to lead TCU to a seventh-place finish.
TCU's lone senior, Lau has finished under-par in 13 of 15 rounds this season. She has carded 338 birdies over her four-year run in Funky Town, putting her within 20 of breaking the program's individual career record.
Barroso Sa is eight-under 280 over her last four completed rounds. The Portugal native is riding consecutive top-20 individual finishes at the Jim West Classic and Puerto Rico.
Angosta, a freshman from Coppell HS, has been the surprise of the spring for the Horned Frogs. She bagged a team-leading nine birdies at the Puerto Rico Classic – her first collegiate event – on her way to a 27th place finish.
Winans is one of three players alongside Lau and Barroso Sa to appear in every tournament this season. She has alternated between the No. 3 and No. 4 posts in the Horned Frogs' lineup. Winans shot an even-par final round in Puerto Rico to ascend 12 spots in the individual leaderboard.
Anand is a mid-year transfer from Auburn. The sophomore teed it up in four events for the Tigers and boasts a 74.58 stroke average in college events.
The Course – Golf Club of Houston – Par 72 / 6,171 Yards
