Bech and Clark highlight the TCU selections
IRVING, Texas -- Eleven TCU players have received All-Big 12 recognition in voting by the conference's head football coaches.
Wide receiver Jack Bech and safety Bud Clark were second-team picks, while center James Brockermeyer, safety Abe Camara, edge rusher Devean Deal, offensive tackle Bless Harris, linebacker Johnny Hodges, quarterback Josh Hoover, edge rusher NaNa Osafo-Mensah and wide receivers JP Richardson and Savion Williams were honorable-mention selections. Richardson was chosen at return specialist.
Additionally, for individual awards, Deal was honorable-mention for Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year and Richardson for Special Teams Player of the Year.
Bech is just the fifth player in TCU history with a 1,000-yard receiving season. His 1,034 yards rank fourth, trailing only Josh Doctson (1,327, 2015), Quentin Johnston (1,069, 2022) and Jalen Reagor (1,061, 2018) who were all first-round NFL draft picks. Bech's nine touchdown receptions tie for fifth in a season at TCU with his 62 receptions placing seventh.
Clark, in his second season as a Team Captain, has a team-best three interceptions while his 64 tackles are fourth. He also has two pass breakups, a forced fumble and blocked kick.
Brockermeyer and Harris started all 12 games at center and left tackle, respectively. Hoover ranks seventh nationally with 3,697 yards passing. He needs 205 in TCU's upcoming bowl game to break Trevone Boykin's 2014 TCU season record of 3,901. Hoover's 66.7 completion percentage is third for a season at TCU, while his 23 touchdown passes tie for seventh. Williams is the first Horned Frog since Kenny Hill in 2017 to have a receiving, rushing and passing touchdown in the same season. He has scored a team-best 12 touchdowns (6 receiving, 6 rushing) while placing second in receptions (60) and rushing yards (322).
Camara is fifth on TCU with 54 stops while his 6.0 tackles for loss place fourth. He has a team-best two forced fumbles. Deal leads TCU with 8.0 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, while Osafo-Mensah is second in both categories with 7.0 TFLs and 3.0 sacks. Hodges tops the Horned Frogs with 87 tackles. He was Second-Team All-Big 12 in TCU's 2022 College Football Playoff season.
Richardson leads the Big 12 and is 11th in the FBS with a 10.9-yard average on punt returns. His 89-yard return for a touchdown in a 38-27 win at Kansas tied for fourth-longest in TCU history and is fourth-longest in the nation this season.
