The event will span two-days with swim on Friday and run/bike on Saturday
CLERMONT, Fla. – The TCU triathlon team will compete in the NCAA Triathlon National Championships this weekend, Nov. 8 and 9.
TCU will compete in Heat A this weekend with the swim time trial beginning at 9:45 a.m. CT tomorrow morning at Clermont Watersports Complex. The swimming portion consists of a one-loop, 750-yard swim. The bike/run race begins at 12:30 p.m. CT on Saturday at Lake Louisa State Park. The awards ceremony will occur at the conclusion of Saturday's races.
Seven Horned Frogs will compete this weekend with a chance to improve from last year's sixth-place team finish. Jenna Buchanan, Sara Gimena, Kira Gupta-Baltazar, Amanda Moro, Maddie Perkins, Ani Veltcheva, and Hannah Ye will represent TCU at the program's second Nationals appearance.
The Frogs have had a strong 2024 season with two first place finishes (Southern Hills and Beaver County), a third place finish (Battle in the Fort), and a second place finish at Regionals.
Moro and Gupta-Baltazar were named to the CTCA Division 1 All-Region Team after finishing in the top seven at Regionals.
Gupta-Baltazar led the way for the Frogs in fifth with a time of 59:28, her best finish of the season. Moro followed behind in sixth, clocking in a 59:47.
Moro has competed in three races so far this season, finishing in the top-10 of each one. Her best finish came at the Duquesne University Invitational where she placed third behind Jenna Buchanan. At Battle in the Fort, Moro came in ninth place with the fastest time for TCU that afternoon.
