As TCU prepares for its final regular season game, junior running back Trent Battle reflects on a season of growth shaped by challenges, resilience, and support. His time so far with the Horned Frogs has been about more than just football, it has been about finding strength through setbacks.
"Losing half a season was tough," he explained. "I had to rebuild my mind, my body, and my game. It wasn't just physical. It was about finding the strength to keep pushing forward." His faith became his foundation during this time, supported by his mom's constant encouragement and reminders. He says, "she reminded me that God has a plan, even when I couldn't see it."
Battle also leaned on his dad, who helped guide him through the recovery process, offering advice on both the mental and physical aspects of recovery. His girlfriend, Seven Castain, a TCU soccer player, became another key source of strength. He shared, "Celebrating her successes helped me stay positive and gave me something to cheer for during a tough time."
Now, as an upperclassman, Battle is focused on leading the next generation of players. "We've got a great group of freshmen who want to learn," he said. "For me, it's about showing them the right way to do things and lead by example. Working to build a culture they can follow."
Through it all, the ups, and the downs, Battle has developed a deep love for TCU and its community. "Coming from a small town in Alabama, I love the family feel here," he said. "It's a big place, but it feels small in the best way. Every coach I've had has helped shape me into who I am today, and I am so grateful for that."
As Trent looks to the future, he carries the lessons he has learned about faith, resilience, and leadership with him. "It's all part of the plan," he said. "I'm just thankful to be part of something so special."
