Castain named TopDrawerSoccer and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
FORT WORTH - Seven Castain has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals in a 6-1 road win at No. 14 Colorado on Saturday. The honor is the first of her career. It is TCU's second time this season being honored by the league.
Castain was also named the TopDrawerSoccer National Player of the Week and became the first Horned Frog to do so since Emily Alvarado on Sept. 22, 2020.
Castain added an assist to go along with her four goals for a total of nine points as the Horned Frog offense exploded for six goals to earn the ranked conference win on the road. She is one of nine players nationally to post a four-goal game this season. She is also one of four players to record nine points in a game this season.
Castain became just the third player in program history and the first since 1996 to record four goals in a contest. She also became the first player in TCU's Big 12 era to achieve the feat. The hat trick was the 19th in program history. With her four-goal outburst, Castain is now tied for 11th all-time in goals scored in program history with 18.
TCU returns to action Thursday night when it hosts West Virginia. First touch is set for 7 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
