Horned Frogs rally from a 17-point second-half deficit
After trailing 31-14 late in the third quarter, the Horned Frogs took s 35-34 lead when Josh Hoover hit Eric McAlister with an 84-yard touchdown pass with 5:10 to play. It tied for the 12th-longest pass in TCU history.
On their ensuring series, the Red Raiders drove to the TCU 27. On a 3rd-and-3, quarterback Will Hammond kept the ball and was hit by Hakeem Ajijolaiya to force a fumble that was recovered by Markis Deal. TCU took over with 1:38 remaining. Savion Williams had an 11-yard rush on the first snap before TCU punted with Texas Tech's final possession beginning at its 23 with 29 seconds to play. The Horned Frogs' defense then preserved the victory.
TCU started fast, taking a 14-3 lead late in the first quarter after a 35-yard touchdown run and 75-yard scoring grab by Savion Williams.
Hoover completed 21-of-32 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns. It was his 10th 300-yard game in 14 career starts.
