COLLEGE STATION – The TCU swimming and diving team will open up its fall season with a two-day meet down the road against Texas A&M and BYU. The tri-meet begins on Friday, Oct. 18 with a scheduled start time of 4 p.m. CT. Saturday's session will begin at 9 a.m. CT at the Rec Center Natatorium in Bryan-College Station.
The Horned Frogs were scheduled to compete at the FSU Classic in Tallahassee, Fla. last month however, Hurricane Helene came through the area making travel unsafe.
Last season, TCU dominated the BYU Cougars in their first dual meet of the season with a 438-306 win at home. The last time TCU faced Texas A&M, the Frogs were defeated 175-125 (men) and 176-116 (women).
In the off-season, several Frogs competed on the world stage. Anna Kwong qualified for the 2024 USA Olympic Trials on the women's 3-meter diving event. Her score of 282.35 points earned her a spot on the Team USA Diving Tier 3 squad.
The senior qualified for the Olympic Trials based on her second-place finish in the 3-meter dive at Big 12 Championships in February. Kwong finished with a school-record 369.75 points while also medaling in the 1-meter.
For the first time since 2016, TCU had two swimmers competing in the Summer Olympics which took place in Paris, France. Sophomore Rhanishka Gibbs represented the Bahamas in the 50m freestyle becoming the first female swimmer from TCU to compete in the Olympics since 2008. Senior Jadon Wuilliez represented Antigua in the 100m breaststroke in Paris, the first male TCU swimmer to compete in the Olympics since 2016.
Following this weekend's trip to College Station, the men's team will host SMU on Friday, Oct. 25. The meet will start at 5 p.m. CT at the University Rec Center on TCU's campus.
