Horned Frogs to face 11 Power 4 opponents
FORT WORTH -- Eleven of 12 games against Power 4 opponents highlight the 2024 TCU football schedule.
TCU opens the season on Friday, Aug. 30, at Stanford. The Horned Frogs will be facing the Cardinal for the first time since 2017, when they rallied from a 21-3 deficit to win 39-37 in the Alamo Bowl. TCU is 3-0 all-time against Stanford and will host the Cardinal in a return game at Amon G. Carter Stadium in 2027.
TCU will play an ACC opponent on the road for the first time since 2009 when it opened the season with a 30-14 victory at Virginia before winning 14-10 at Clemson two weeks later. The last time the Horned Frogs began a season with a Friday road game was in 2022, when they took a 38-13 decision at Colorado en route to a College Football Playoff appearance.
TCU's home opener will be Sept. 7 versus LIU before beginning Big 12 play the following week when it hosts UCF (Sept. 14). The Horned Frogs' other home conference games are Houston (either Oct. 4 or 5), Texas Tech (Oct. 26), Oklahoma State (Nov. 9) and Arizona (Nov. 23). TCU will be facing the Wildcats, in their Big 12 debut season, for the first time since a 13-10 overtime win in Tucson in 2003.
With construction taking place at Kansas' Memorial Stadium, TCU's Sept. 28 game with the Jayhawks will be held at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, home of the NFL's Chiefs. The Horned Frogs will also travel in Big 12 play to Utah (Oct. 19), Baylor (Nov. 2) and Cincinnati (Nov. 30).
The Horned Frogs and Utes will meet for the first time since 2010, when both were in the Mountain West. TCU won 47-7 in that contest at Rice-Eccles Stadium with ESPN's College GameDay on site.
TCU's regular-season finale at Cincinnati will mark its first trip to the Queen City since 2004, when both schools were members of Conference USA.
