
Nelson Lifts TCU over No. 15 Baylor in Triple Overtime, 105-102

Senior guard scores 30 as TCU wins its second road game of the week
WACO, Texas – Behind a 30-point performance by senior guard Jameer Nelson Jr. including a game-winning shot, TCU won a thrilling triple overtime game, 105-102, Saturday at Foster Pavilion.
One year after winning their final game at Baylor's Farrell Center by one point on Mike Miles Jr's 33 points, the Horned Frogs (15-5, 4-3) won in their first opportunity at the new Foster Pavilion. Nelson's 30 points were the most by a TCU player since Miles' 33.
Baylor (14-5, 3-3) led for most of the game and as many as 10 with 13:18 to play in the second half. Chuck O'Bannon Jr. made three 3-pointers in the final seven minutes of the half. His final three tied the game, 76-76, with 51.5 seconds to play. Both teams came up empty on their possessions to send the game to overtime.
TCU led by three, 88-85, with 8.5 seconds left. Baylor's Ja'Kobe Walter tied it with a three.
Both teams scored just six points in the second overtime After Micah Peavy made two free throws to tie the game 94-94 with 1:18 to play. Baylor's Yves Missi missed a shot at the buzzer.
TCU trailed in the third overtime by as many as four, 99-95, with 3:01 to play. After a jumper by Trevian Tennyson, who finished with 15 points, Emanuel Miller scored to make it 100-99 with 1:54 to play. Nelson then scored the games' final six points, including 4-of-4 from the free throw line. His go-ahead bucket came with 11.3 on the clock. Rayj Dennis' shot attempt was blocked by Ernest Udeh Jr. and Nelson then made two free throws with 1.2 on the clock to go up three.
Miller finished with his 21 points, his second-straight game of 20 or more points, and played 52:32 out of a possible 55 minutes.
The Horned Frogs will next host No. 20 Texas Tech on Tuesday at 6 p.m. on ESPN2.

· TCU improved to 87-104 all-time against Baylor.
· TCU improved to 6-6 against Baylor since the 2017-18 season.

· It was Jamie Dixon's 154th win as TCU's head coach. He is two wins away from tying Billy Tubbs for second on the school's all-time wins list.
· Dixon improved to 6-8 all-time against Baylor.

· TCU improved to 3-1 all-time in triple overtime games. It was the first triple OT since TCU lost to West Virginia, 104-96, on Feb. 26, 2019.

· TCU improved to 3-2 against AP Top 25 teams this season.
· Of TCU's six road wins against AP Top 25 teams in its history and five have come in the past six seasons.

· TCU trailed by as many as 10 points. It was the second-straight game and the fourth game this season that TCU has trailed by double digits and won.

· TCU outshot Baylor, 52.6 percent to 47.9 percent. The Frogs improved to 14-1 this season and 131-27 under Dixon when outshooting their opponent.

Individual Notes
· Jameer Nelson Jr. scored a season-high 30 points, 26 of them from the second half on. It was the most points by a TCU player and the first time a Horned Frog reached 30 points since Mike Miles scored 33 at Baylor last season. It was Nelson's sixth 30-point game of his career.
· Nelson was 11-of-18 from the field, both season-highs.
· Emanuel Miller finished with 21 points. It was his seventh game this season scoring 20 or more points. He has scored in double figures in all, but two games this season. Miller moved up one spot to 33rd in all-time scoring at TCU with 1,080 points.
· Miller played a career-high 52:32 minutes. The most by a TCU player since the 1996-97 season was Desmond Bane's 53 minutes against West Virginia on Feb. 26, 2019.
· Trevian Tennyson made four 3-pointers on seven attempts. He has made at least one 3-pointer in all, but three games played.
· Chuck O'Bannon Jr. made 3-of-4 3-point attempts. All three makes came in the final 6:17 of the second half. He finished with 11 points.
· Avery Anderson III had six points, four rebounds and a team-high five assists. It was the ninth time this season leading the team in assists.
· Ernest Udeh Jr. led the team in rebounding for the sixth time this season with seven boards.
· Micah Peavy had 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
