
TCU Opens Spring Season with a Win

The Frogs take down Delaware State 14-5
FORT WORTH – The No. 1 TCU equestrian team took down No. 8 Delaware State 14-5 and moved to 7-0 for the first time in program history on Thursday, Jan. 25 at John Justin Arena.
The Frogs earned all four of the Most Outstanding Performer awards. Ashleigh Scully, Lilly Goldstein, Kaylene Cunningham and Mattie Dukes earned the MOP in Fences, Flat, Reining and Horsemanship, respectively.
FENCES
The meet kicked off with a strong start in fences where the Horned Frogs finished 3-2. Scully secured the first point for the Frogs with a 90, tying her career high score. Sydney Berube earned the second point, with a score of 89 and Ella Bostwick closed out the event for the Frogs with an 82 winning her point on Kiki.
FLAT
The flat followed the fences with an impressive 5-0 sweep. Goldstein kicked off the event with a score of 84 to earn the first point for the Frogs. With this point, the freshman stays undefeated (7-0) in her collegiate career. Scully followed to secure her point with a 77. Laurel Smith won her point with an 80 on Mac. Franki Guidi continued the momentum, winning her point with a 77. Ella Bostwick closed out the event with a score of 68 on Stryker.
REINING
The western events began with the reining where the Frogs took down the Hornets 3-1. Giorgia Medows put on a stellar first ride earning a 72 on Snoop Dog. Dukes followed behind with a 68.5-66.5 win on Alfie. Cunningham earned her first career MOP with a 72.5 ride on Britney.
HORSEMANSHIP
Shea Graham earned first point of the final event of the evening with a 74 on Jake. Payton Boutelle edged her opponent 77-72.5 on Hector. Dukes brought it home with a 78 on Bob earning her fourth MOP in the event and continuing her undefeated streak this season (7-0).
UP NEXT
The Horned Frogs will host Fresno State on Friday, Feb. 2 at KSM Bear Creek Farms at 10am. TCU is 1-0 against the Bulldogs this season with the latest matchup coming on Oct. 20 in Fresno, Calif. where the Frogs were victorious 15-5.
