
Norrie, Stalder to Compete in 2024 Australian Open

26th Grand Slam appearance for Norrie; Stalder earns first ticket to Melbourne
MELBOURNE, Australia – A pair of former TCU All-Americans are headed down under for the 2024 Australian Open.
Cam Norrie earned the No. 19 seed in the singles draw while Reese Stalder cracked the doubles entries list.
The tournament from Jan. 14-28 at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Norrie's first round match pits him against world No. 80 Juan Pablo Varillas of Peru at 6 p.m. CT on Monday. He'll face either No. 52 Dusan Lasjovic or a qualifier in the second round.
A pair of victories by the British No. 1 sets up a likely third round showdown with No. 11 seed Casper Rudd. Norrie has faced the Norwegian three times, with their last match taking place at the 2022 ATP Masters 1000 Miami.
Norrie, currently 18th in the ATP singles rankings, is making his sixth appearance in the main draw of the Australian Open. He reached the third round in 2021 and 2023. Norrie holds a 4-5 main draw record in the tournament
The trip to the south pacific marks Norrie's 26th Grand Slam appearance. Norrie is 29-24 in slams, with his best finish being a memorable run to the semifinals of The Championships, Wimbledon 2022. Norrie achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of eighth following his breakthrough at the All-England Club.
Stalder, a 2017 All-American, is partnered with Michigan alumnus Evan King. The tandem has won six ATP Challenger Tour doubles titles together, most recently triumphing at the Yokkaichi Challenger.
Stalder won two main draw matches and reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon in 2023 in his Grand Slam debut alongside David Pel.
Doubles play begins on Monday.
