Play begins at 8 a.m. on Monday at Shady Oaks Country Club
FORT WORTH – The best field in college golf will take place at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invitational, held Oct. 2-3 at Shady Oaks Country Club in Fort Worth.
Gustav Frimodt will look to defend his title beginning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. Frimodt won the tournament last season at Colonial Country Club, which is currently under construction. Joining Frimodt are Andrew Petruzzelli, Chris Berzina, Jack Beauchamp and Brandon Massey.
After 36 holes on Monday, play will begin as early as 8 a.m. on Tuesday for the final 18 holes.
The 15-team field includes 12 teams that played in the NCAA Championship last season, including six that advanced to the eight-team match play.
Admission and parking are free.

THE COURSE – Par 70 | 6,885 yards
Robert Trent Jones designed Shady Oaks, best known as being Ben Hogan's home club in the decades after his retirement, in the mid-1950s for founder Marvin Leonard. The design of the course was state of the art and emblematic of the new style of design: heavily engineered; long, with narrow fairways through treelined corridors that placed a premium on driving accuracy; and large, sectioned greens. That mode prevailed until 2020 when the club hired the Australian firm of Ogilvy, Cocking and Mead to remodel the course. The architects infused it with a bigger, more sweeping style of bunker, removed trees, and shifted and extended greens. It's once again a course that reflects the popular architecture of the moment.

- TCU finished ninth at last season's Ben Hogan Collegiate. North Carolina placed first.
- Frimodt, who led TCU in five tournaments last season and had five top 10 finishes, started this season off right as he earned co-medalist honors at the Valero Texas Collegiate in the opener. He was ninth at last week's William H. Tucker Intercollegiate.
- Frimodt ranks ninth in the latest PGA Tour University Rankings that came out on Wednesday. The PGA Tour University Ranking is the mechanism to determine which graduating seniors earn automatic access to PGA TOUR-sanctioned circuits. FULL RANKINGS
- Frimodt had an impressive summer which included a third-place finish at the North and South Amateur Championship and fifth at The Western Amateur Championship. He also played in the U.S. Amateur Championship.
- Petruzzelli, a freshman from Dallas, will look for his third-straight top 20 finish.
- Berzina will make his season debut. The Fort Worth native played in seven tournaments last season.
- Bill Allcorn is in his first season as TCU's head coach after assisting at Oklahoma for six years.
- Former TCU golfer Cole Buck joined Allcorn's staff as associate head coach in June. Buck graduated in 2017 from TCU and spent the past three seasons as an assistant at Stanford.
