Allan fires eighth perfect score in program history
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Stephanie Allan joined an elite club as she fired a 600 in air rifle to help lead No. 2 TCU to a first-place finish with an aggregate score of 4,738 at Navy Saturday. Allan is the sixth Horned Frog to accomplish the feat in program history. It is the eighth time a TCU shooter has fired a 600.
TCU turned in a solid effort in both disciplines, shooting a 2,356 in smallbore and a 2,382 in air rifle. The smallbore mark is the ninth-best in program history, while the aggregate mark is tied for the 12th-best in program history. Navy finished second with a team score of 4,702 (2,338 smallbore, 2,364 air rifle).
The Horned Frogs produced the top two aggregate marks and six of the top 10. Allan led all shooters with an aggregate mark of 1,189 followed closely by Katie Zaun's 1,188. Anne White rounded out the top five with an aggregate mark of 1,179. Jeanne Haverhill, in her TCU debut, produced an aggregate mark of 1,173 to finish sixth followed by Mikole Hogan's 1,170 in seventh. Nina Schuett rounded out the top 10 with an aggregate of 1,164.
In smallbore, TCU fired three of the top four marks led by Stephanie Grundsoee's 593. Allan and Zaun fired identical marks of 589 and Anne White contributed a 585. Also serving as a counter in the match was Jeanne Haverhill. She fired a 580 in the discipline.
Despite having only four shooters in air rifle due to an equipment malfunction for Grundsoee, the Frogs turned in four of the top five marks in the discipline. Highlighted by Allan's 600, Zaun fired a near-perfect 599. Haverhill turned in a 593 and Mikole Hogan a 590 while serving as counters. Not factoring in the team score was White who shot a 594 to finish third.
TCU will send four shooters – Stephanie Allan, Jeanne Haverhill, Anne White and Katie Zaun - to Part 1 of the Olympic Trials which are slated to begin on Sept. 28.
The Horned Frogs are next in action on Oct. 8 at Georgia State.
