
TCU Sweeps Kansas State in Big 12 Opener

The Frogs extended their win streak to six matches, Brianna Green tallied 10 blocks in the win.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – TCU won its Big 12 opener with a 3-0 win over Kansas State on Thursday night at Morgan Family Arena. TCU extended its winning streak to six matches with the victory.
Brianna Green led the Horned Frogs with 10 blocks, her third game this season with 10 or more blocks. Melanie Parra tallied a team-leading 14 kills in the win.
The Rundown
Brianna Green landed the first of her five kills of the night to spark the offense in the first set. Trailing for most of the early part of the set, Green landed another kill right out of the media timeout to tie the set up 15-all.
TCU continued its 5-0 scoring run and forced a Wildcat timeout, leading 19-15. The Frogs controlled the remainder of the set and final kills from Melanie Parra and Taylor Raiola clinched the set win for the Frogs.
Two kills from Parra gave the Frogs an early 5-3 edge in the second set. Leading 7-5, TCU went on a 5-0 scoring run, highlighted by two solo blocks from Green. An attack error by the Wildcats gave TCU an 18-9 lead and the Frogs never led by less than five throughout the rest of the set.
An Audrey Nalls kill took it to set point and a block from Green and Nalls won the frame for the Frogs. Six of Green's 10 blocks came in the second set alone.
TCU held Kansas to a .000 hitting percentage in the set and caused the Wildcats to have 11 attack errors.
The Frogs trailed for most of the early part of the third set. Down 10-6, the Frogs went on a 5-0 scoring run, highlighted by Lily Nicholson's first career kill to take an 11-10 lead. The third set had 12 tied scores as both teams battled evenly with each other throughout the frame.
Tied at 18, kills from Green and Parra gave TCU a two-point edge. Kansas State pulled within one point towards the end, but a final kill from Raiola earned the Frogs the sweep over the Wildcats.
