
Parra Named All-Tournament Team as Frogs Fall to No. 2 Wisconsin

Julia Adams moved into No. 7 all-time in TCU career kills
MINNEAPOLIS – The Horned Frogs lost to No. 2 Wisconsin, 3-0, on the final day of the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday night at Maturi Pavilion.
With her seven kills against the Badgers, Julia Adams is now No. 7 on TCU's all-time kills list (1,110). She needs just 17 more kills to move into sixth on the all-time career kills list.
Melanie Parra posted a team-leading eight kills and was named to the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge All-Tournament team. She tallied 21 kills, eight blocks and five aces throughout the weekend.
The Rundown
Wisconsin jumped out to an early lead in the first set and controlled the entirety of the frame. Despite falling 25-16, the Frogs' offense began to shine in the second set.
Down 12-5, Julia Adams recorded back-to-back kills to cut the lead. Adams finished with three kills in the set, and her final kill of the frame sparked a 5-0 scoring run for the Frogs. TCU tied the contest up at 15-all in the second set before losing 25-19.
In her first appearance in the game, Lydia Seymour opened the third set with her first kill of the night. A kill by Melanie Parra propelled the Frogs to an early 3-1 lead.
TCU hung with the Badgers for the entirety of the third set, leading three times and being tied with Wisconsin on seven separate occasions. A kill by Jalyn Gibson pulled the Frogs within two points and cut the lead to 21-19, but the Badgers pulled away at the end.
With her seven kills, Adams moves into seventh on TCU's all-time career kills list. The fifth-year, who had 1,095 kills entering the weekend, amassed 15 kills during the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge to pass Jordan Raines '11 and move into No. 7 with 1,110 kills.
Parra had a stellar opening weekend as a member of the Purple and White. She tallied 21 kills over both matches and led TCU in kills each time to earn All-Tournament team honors.
