The Rundown
Arkansas opened up the scoring in the first without the benefit of a hit. Cam Brown did a good job working out of a bases-loaded nobody out jam by allowing just the one run.
TCU took its first lead in the second. Kurtis Byrne singled and moved to second after Anthony Silva was hit by a pitch. With two in scoring position, Austin Davis lined a single back up the middle for a 2-1 TCU lead.
The back-and-forth affair continued as the Razorbacks struck for three runs in the top of the fifth on a pair of home runs. TCU got one of the runs back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI-ground out from Tre Richardson to make it a 4-3 game in favor of Arkansas.
Silva got the Frogs rolling in the sixth with a lead-off single. Two batters later, the Frogs had the lead for good on a Davis home run to left. Elijah Nunez worked a walk following the home run. An error kept the inning alive and Cole Fontenelle made it hurt with an RBI-single for a 6-4 lead.
Byrne's first home run of the game in the seventh gave TCU a 7-4 lead. The Frogs broke the game open with a five spot in the eighth. With two in scoring position, Fontenelle doubled to left for a 9-4 lead. Back-to-back home runs from Richardson and Byrne followed for a 12-4 lead.
Ben Abeldt (3-3), who took over in the fifth closed out the game. He picked up the win in relief after tossing 4 2/3 shutout innings. He allowed just one hit, walked two and struck out four. Brown pitched the Frogs into the fifth. He allowed four runs on two hits, walked four and struck out four.
