The Rundown
The pitching trio of Kole Klecker, Luke Savage and Cohen Feser held the nation's ninth-best offense to four runs on just seven hits. Klecker gave the Horned Frogs four innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He walked two and struck out five. Savage (5-3) surrendered a run on three hits over four innings and struck out three. Feser fanned two of the three he faced to close out the game.
After falling behind 2-0 on a two out home run in the first, TCU wasted little time responding. Elijah Nunez doubled to open the first for the Frogs. After a Karson Bowen base knock, Brayden Taylor's 22nd home run of the season gave the Frogs a 3-2 lead. TCU added another run in the frame as Tre Richardson scored on a two-out single off the bat of Anthony Silva. Taylor tacked on two more runs with a base hit in the second to give TCU a 6-2 lead.
TCU once again responded to an Arizona run with one of its own in the bottom half of the inning. Taylor led off the fourth with a bunt single and two throwing errors later was standing on third. He scored easily on a Cole Fontenelle base knock to make it a 7-3 ballgame.
A costly Arizona error led to two more runs for the Frogs in the fifth. Two out singles from Bowen and Taylor extended the TCU lead to 9-3.
Arizona's third home run of the night made it a 9-4 game. Again, TCU had a response, striking for a trio of runs in the bottom of the eighth to account for the final score. Kurtis Byrne hit a two run home run and Austin Davis doubled home Luke Boyers with the last run of the game.
