13-meet schedule features seven home contests
FORT WORTH – TCU equestrian is officially less than two months away from returning to action with the unveiling of the program's 2023-2024 schedule.
The Horned Frogs will enter the arena 13 times during a regular season spanning September-March. TCU has seven home meets on the docket, including four straight to begin the spring portion of its schedule. Of the Horned Frogs' 13 confirmed contests, eight are against programs who competed in the 2023 National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championships.
Though unofficial, the season begins opposite a familiar face on Sept. 14, as TCU welcomes Tarleton to town for an exhibition affair. The tilt marks the third consecutive year the Horned Frogs have opened their season opposite the Texans.
TCU's then makes its 2023-2024 debut for real vs. reigning NCEA National Champion and longtime rival SMU on Sept. 22 within the friendly confines of Bear Creek Farms.
The Horned Frogs break for a week following the tussle with the Mustangs before embarking on their first Big 12 road trip. TCU makes the 250-mile bus ride along US-177 N to face Oklahoma State on Oct. 5, then jaunts cross country to battle Fresno State 15 days later.
The program's extended stretch away from home concludes the following week with a trip to Tennessee for a three-team round robin vs. host UT Martin and Georgia on Oct. 27-28.
The fall slate wraps with one last fall home meet in a Big 12 affair on Nov. 10 vs. Baylor.
TCU returns to the saddle following the winter holidays with one of the most anticipated home meets on the docket. The Horned Frogs are set to again participate in the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo (FWSSR), beginning with a meet vs. Delaware State on Jan. 25 inside John Justin Arena. Excluding the COVID19--condensed 2020-2021 season, the Horned Frogs have competed in conjunction with the FWSSR annually since 2017.
The crosstown meet ignites TCU's longest stay at home. TCU will enjoy three straight meets at Bear Creek Farms spanning the entirety of February. Up first is a return trip from Fresno State on Feb. 2. The Horned Frogs then battle perennial SEC power South Carolina one week later. TCU's final home contest in 2023-2024 arrives on Feb. 23 with a visit from Oklahoma State. The Horned Frogs will host Senior Day as a part of the meet against the Cowgirls.
TCU's penultimate regular season meet arrives the following week with a rematch at SMU on March 1.
The Horned Frogs cap the regular season and Big 12 play with their first of two visits to Waco to square off with the Bears on March 8.
The schedule then shifts to postseason play, beginning with the Big 12 Championships on March 29-30. The Big 12 Championships take place in Waco, with Baylor playing host.
TCU will turn its attention to the NCEA National Championships in the days following its pursuit of a conference crown. The eight-team, single elimination tournament runs from April 18-20 in Ocala, Florida at the World Equestrian Center. TCU has received a bid to the NCEA or VNEC National Championships every year since the program's inception in 2006-2007.
The Horned Frogs are seeking to surpass the most successful season in program history in 2023-2024. TCU produced the highest single season winning percentage (.765) in its Big 12 era last season behind a 13-4 overall record. The Horned Frogs also finished undefeated at home for the first time ever. TCU returns 32-of-39 letter winners from its 2022-2023 roster, seven of whom combined to help produce an NCEA-leading 11 All-American citations.
Start times for both home and away meets will be released over the coming weeks.
