TCU in a regional for 17th time in last 19 postseasons
FORT WORTH - The NCAA Baseball Regional brackets were announced Monday on ESPN2. The TCU Horned Frogs will be a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Fayetteville (Arkansas) Regional. The Frogs are back in the regionals for the 17th time in the last 19 postseasons. They will face the region's three-seed, Arizona on Friday.
The other game in the Fayetteville Regional will see No. 1 Arkansas versus No. 4 Santa Clara Friday. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday, June 2 and run through Monday. The Razorbacks are the No. 3 overall National Seed.
This is the Frogs' 19th overall trip to the regionals. The previous 18 trips came in 1956, 1994, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2022. TCU is one of just eight teams nationally to play in 17 of the last 19 regionals.
The winner of the Fayetteville Regional will play the winner of the Terre Haute (Indiana State) Regional in the Super Regionals. The four teams in that region include, No. 14 seed Indiana State, Iowa and North Carolina, Wright State.
The Big 12 earned six bids to the tournament. Oklahoma State was selected as a Regional host and is the No. 11 national seed. Texas will be the No. 2 seed in the Miami Regional. West Virginia is the No. 2 seed in the Lexington (Kentucky) Regional, while Texas Tech is the No. 3 seed in the Gainesville (Florida) Regional. Oklahoma is the No. 3 seed in Charlottesville (Virginia) Regional.
