FORT WORTH – TCU equestrian has reached the culmination of its 2022-2023 season.
The Horned Frogs are set to make their 14th consecutive appearance at the NCEA National Championships, which run from Apr. 13-15 in Ocala, Florida.
TCU earned the No. 4 seed in the eight-team tournament. The program's quest for its first-ever national championship begins with a battle vs. No. 5 seed Texas A&M at 7:30 a.m. CT on Thursday at the World Equestrian Center.
TCU and TAMU have squared off twice already in 2022-2023, with the Horned Frogs winning both duals. The Horned Frogs traveled to College Station in September for their first regular season meet of the year. The meet ended in a 10-10 tie, but TCU was awarded the victory on cumulative points (1,630.5-1,622.75). The teams' most recent battle took place on Feb. 18 in Fort Worth. The Frogs dominated the matchup, securing the win by a wide margin, 15-4. TCU collected a victory in each event and swept all four MOP honors.
The Frogs are 6-11 all-time against the Aggies, and a win on Thursday would mark their longest ever win streak (three) versus TAMU.
If the Frogs come out on top this Thursday, they'll compete against either No. 1 SMU or No. 8 Baylor on Friday for a spot in Saturday's grand finale.
NCEA ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
Eight athletes combined to give TCU 12 NCEA All-American accolades – the most of any program this season. The Horned Frogs also led the nation with seven sets of first team All-American citations, which were a single-season program record.
NATIONALS HISTORY
The Horned Frogs are no strangers to the NCEA National Championships. Last year, they secured a win against Georgia to move onto the semifinal meet versus the eventual national champion Oklahoma State.
The Frogs have qualified for the Championship every year since the NCEA's inception in 2009. TCU has produced an overall NCEA Championships record of 9-9 over the last decade.
SEASON IN REVIEW
TCU finished with an overall record of 12-3 and a conference record of 4-2 this season. Eight of 12 Horned Frog wins were against ranked opponents. TCU holds the highest winning percentage of all Big 12 schools for the 2022-2023 season, with .800 overall.
The Frogs went undefeated at home, securing six victories at Bear Creek Farms. They also had a winning away record, securing victories in four-of-seven meets in opponent or neutral territory.
