
TCU Walks Away With 7-5 Victory at Abilene Christian

The Rundown
Abilene Christian opened the scoring in the first with a run on two hits. TCU quickly tied the game in the second. Anthony Silva doubled to lead off the inning and later scored on a David Bishop ground out to tie the game at home.
Cole Fontenelle put the Horned Frogs on top 2-1 with a sacrifice fly in the third.
Three Wildcat pitchers struggled to find the strike zone in the fourth as TCU worked six walks and scored four times to open up a 6-1 lead. Elijah Nunez, Luke Boyers, Tre Richardson and Fontenelle collected RBIs in the frame.
Abilene Christian picked up two runs each in the fifth and sixth to pull within one, 6-5, but Luke Boyers' lead-off home run in the eighth gave TCU an insurance run and a 7-5 lead.
Louis Rodriguez, after getting touched for two runs in the sixth, struck out the side around a hit batter in the seventh. Hunter Hodges stranded a runner at third in the eighth and Ben Abeldt picked up his first save, pitching around a lead-off hit batter in the ninth.
River Ridings (1-0) earned the win in relief of Braeden Sloan. Ridings took over in the fifth with runners on the corners and one out. He allowed a hit and struck out one. Sloan allowed three runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings.
