
No. 3 TCU Sends Off Seniors with 12-7 Victory Over Baylor

The Horned Frogs finished undefeated at home in 2022-2023 with the win
FORT WORTH – No. 3 TCU finished off its regular season in style, defeating Big 12 Conference rival Baylor 12-7 on Saturday at Bear Creek Farms.
The Horned Frogs honored their graduating class of 2023 as a part of their home finale. Kaitlyn Baker, Maddy Buchanan, Alexis Cook, Mattie Dukes, Jordan Guilmart, Olivia Parr and Catherine Shurtleff walked through the arena one final time following the meet's conclusion.
Beating the eighth-ranked Bears served as an appropriate way to honor and add to a senior class legacy that is manifesting as one of the greatest in the 17-year history of the program.
The win over Baylor was the group's 35th together in their four-year run in Fort Worth. Saturday's result also signified TCU's sixth home victory in as many tries, giving the program its first-ever undefeated home record.
TCU concluded the regular season with an 11-2 overall record and 4-2 mark in Big 12 play, guaranteeing he Horned Frogs a top-two seed in the Big 12 Championships (March 24-25) and their 16th all-time berth to April's NCEA Championships.
For as dominant as TCU has been in 2022-2023 – the Horned Frogs boast seven NCEA top-10 wins – Baylor owns the distinction of being one of just two teams to own a victory over TCU. The Bears defeated the Horned Frogs 12-7 on Oct. 21 in Waco in the first-of-two meetings between the teams.
TCU, though, ensured the loss would be avenged from the outset.
The Horned Frogs never trailed in the contest. TCU notched its 11th cumulative victory in Western, scoring seven points to Baylor's three, and claimed the crown in Jumping Seat 5-4.
TCU opened up a 3-1 lead in Fences, then took wrested control of the contest in the middle portions of the meet. The Horned Frogs scored six consecutive points during Flat and Reining. Leading 9-5 and needing just one point to clinch, TCU closed the show emphatically in Horsemanship, claiming the second, third and fourth rides to lock up the win.
Wynne Weatherly and Jessica McAllister were honored as the meet's Most Outstanding Performer in Flat and Reining, respectively.
Fences
The Horned Frogs' near-flawless season in Fences continued against their central Texas rival. TCU downed Baylor 3-1 to pick up its 11th win in the event in 13 outings. The Horned Frogs also punctuated a 6-0 home record in Fences in 2022-2023.
Scully cruised to her team-leading 10th Fences victory of 2022-2023 to stake TCU to a 1-0 head start. The Morristown, New Jersey native achieved a score of 83 on her way to a 10-point win over Madison Mitchell.
Baxter snared TCU's second point soon after. She received a score of 77 on the second ride of the morning. Baylor's Lauren Reid was unable to surpass the effort, as she was awarded 73 points for her ride.
Ella Bostwick earned the event-clincher two rides later. She downed Annie Vorhies 80-72 on her way to her seventh Fences win of her first season in purple and white.
Dominika Silvestri gave Baylor its lone point with an 84-point performance.
The final head-to-head in the event went to a draw, as TCU's Sydney Berube and Baylor's Madeline Vorhies each rode to scores of 81.
The Horned Frogs tallied 398 cumulative points to the Bears' 383.
Flat
Baylor edged the Horned Frogs 3-2 (391-386) in the discipline, though TCU's pair of individual victories helped widen its overall advantage.
The Bears scored the first point in Flat, which overlapped with reining, to trim TCU's edge to 3-2. Scully and Weatherly followed with back-to-back wins. The Horned Frogs won the first four Reining duals simultaneously, ultimately fostering what proved to be an insurmountable 9-4 meet lead.
Scully earned her second of two victories behind a 73-68 defeat of Annie Vorhies. Weatherly followed with a high score of 84 on her way to an eight-point win over Reid.
Scully's victory in Flat boosted her overall record to 22-4 this season. Her 22 combined victories are the most of any Horned Frog
Weatherly, a graduate student from Charlotte, went out in style in her final home meet. She received her second straight MOP at Bear Creek Farms, fourth in 2022-2023 and ninth in her five-year collegiate career.
Reining
TCU absorbed Baylor's best shot in Reining – all five of the Bears' riders received scores of 70.5-or-better – but the Horned Frogs had an answer, claiming four of a possible five points.
Shea Graham was the first Horned Frog to enter the winner's circle, edging Shelby Clausen 72.5-71.5.
McAllister followed by further cemented herself as arguably the nation's top Western performer. She matched up opposite Baylor's Madaline Callaway, who was awarded a team-high score of 75. All McAllister did was counter with a 76-point effort of her own in route to her ninth Reining victory and second MOP of her junior year.
Dukes ran her Reining winning streak to 11 soon thereafter. She matched her season-high score of 73.5 to take out Daisy Kaufman by one point. Dukes, from Weatherford, Texas, owns an 11-1-1 Reining record this season.
Giorgia Medows, a fellow All-American alongside Graham and McAllister, claimed TCU's fourth-and-final Reining victory – her ninth of the year – via a 74.5-70.5 result over Andie Pratt.
Horsemanship
Baylor needed all five remaining points to win, but the All-American duo of Meadows and McAllister quickly thwarted any prospects of a comeback.
The Bears were awarded the first point in the discipline. Meadows then earned the meet-clincher on the following ride. The junior bested Nadalee Vasquez 76-75. McAllister joined her in the win column for the second time with an identical score at the expense of Gabrielle Marty.
Payton Boutelle procured TCU's final point of the afternoon, coasting by Baylor's Andie Pratt 74.5-70.5.

TCU will taper its training for three weeks before bussing north to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the culmination of Big 12 action. The Horned Frogs will face either Baylor or No. 9 Fresno State in the first round of the two-day affair.
