Brown tosses complete-game shutout
FORT WORTH – TCU rode an outstanding performance on the mound by Cam Brown and an offensive onslaught to a 14-0 over Kansas, completing the Big 12 series sweep. Anthony Silva put together a career day at the plate with three hits and five runs driven in.
The Rundown
Cam Brown (2-0) was brilliant in his first career complete game. After the first two Jayhawks reached, Brown sent down 15 in a row. A lead-off single in the sixth was erased on a double play. He finished the day allowing two hits, walked one and struck out eight.
The scoring started early and didn't stop for the Horned Frogs. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first and never looked back. The first three hitters reached and all came around to score. A passed ball gave TCU the lead. Cole Fontenelle and David Bishop added RBIs in the frame.
Brayden Taylor's solo home run in the second pushed the lead to 4-0.
Four more runs came across in the third as the lead grew to 8-0. Bishop singled home the first run of the frame. Anthony Silva's three run blast highlighted the inning.
Three straight walks to open the fourth led to another four run inning. Austin Davis singled home the first two in the frame and Silva added two more RBIs with a double for a 12-0 lead.
The final two runs crossed the plate in the sixth. Davis opened the inning with a home run and Bishop scored on a wild pitch to account for the final score.

23 – Cam Brown faced just two batters over the minimum in his first career complete-game shutout. Kansas stranded two in the first inning and Brown faced the minimum in the final six innings of the game.
